Purpose of Establishment

The Participation Banks Association of Türkiye (TKBB), headquartered in Istanbul, is a professional organization in the nature of a public institution, established pursuant to the relevant provisions of the Banking Law. As of today, ten participation banks operating in Türkiye are members of TKBB.

The objective of TKBB is to safeguard the rights and interests of participation banks in line with banking regulations, principles, and rules within the framework of the free market economy and full competition principles; to work towards the growth, sound functioning, and development of the banking profession; to enhance competitiveness; and to take, ensure the adoption of, implement, and demand the implementation of necessary decisions to create a competitive environment and prevent unfair competition.


Legal Basis and Legal Status

The Participation Banks Association of Türkiye was established under the Banks Law No. 4389 and with the entry into force of the Association Statute dated 04.10.2001 and numbered 2001/3138, under its former name, the Association of Special Finance Houses. Subsequently, with the Banking Law No. 5411 dated 01.11.2005 and the Association Statute dated 28.02.2006 and numbered 2006/10018, it assumed its current name, the Participation Banks Association of Türkiye.
